Tamir Biotech Selects CRO

Pharmatech Oncology to help run Phase II Ranpirnase trial

Tamir Biotechnology (formerly known as Alfacell Corp.) has selected Pharmatech Oncology, Inc. as the CRO to run its upcoming Phase II trial of Ranpirnase (Onconase) in combination with platinum doublet chemotherapy for patients with advanced or metastatic non-squamous, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Complete patient accrual is expected in 12 months, with multiple centers participating in the trial.

Pharmatech Oncology is based out of Denver, CO and has extensive experience conducting oncology clinical trials. Pharmatech’s responsibilities include patient enrollment, data management, clinical monitoring, statistical analysis, and FDA regulatory filings.

The selection process began in April 2010, when the company invited several CROs to file RFPs for the Phase II NSCLC trial. The initial pool was whittled down to six companies “deemed to be responsive to our RFP,” read a Tamir statement. Pharmatech Oncology was chosen based on “experience, competitive pricing, ability to deliver the goods and services requested within the specified times, as well as their clear understanding of the trial design and protocol,” said the company.
